Bus stops ‘too far from Tube’
TWO new bus stops planned for West Hampstead will go up in the wrong place, according to campaigners.
The bus stops are due to be sited outside the Thameslink Station and at the Post Office on opposite sides of West End Lane.
But Virginia Berridge, of West Hampstead Amenity and Transport, says the stops should be nearer West Hampstead Tube station. She added: “The idea originally was to try and get integrated transport and have them by the Tube. Now they are miles away and quite near the next bus stop.”
The bus stop could not be located closer to the Tube station because West End Lane needs to be kept clear for sightlines and to reduce congestion.
