Front doors go offline
THE Town Hall has given residents the chance to remove their addresses from a bizarre photo library it holds of every front door in the borough – following an exclusive New Journal investigation.
The CNJ revealed in November how officials had hired Dutch company Cyclomedia to amass the photo archive of every home in Camden, splashing out £100,000 on the project and later posting the photos on the internet.
The cost and scale of the project were uncovered after New Journal inquiries, including requests under the Freedom of Information Act. With residents concerned about a breach of privacy, on Friday the council set up a system allowing pictures of front doors to be removed from the database, via the council website.
The system is meant to be used by council officials to see how a street is laid out without making site visits. |
