Celtic keep up the pace
10-man Holloway in stunning win over Reddot
CHAMPIONSHIP chasing Holloway Celtic continued their title charge on Sunday with a stunning victory over Division One rivals Reddot at Hackney Marshes.
Champions Reddot struck first when Jason Medford opened the scoring midway through the first half with a well-taken goal.
Celtic (pictured) hit back on the stroke of half time when Anthony Clark beat the offside trap before guiding the ball calmly under the goalkeeper.
The game shifted back in Reddot’s favour on the hour mark when Celtic were reduced to 10 men.
But with Reddot pressing for a winner, Celtic struck twice on the counter-attack as man of the match Clark fired Celtic into a 3-1 lead to complete his hat-trick.
Celtic captain Terry Paul added a fourth when he ran the length of the field to score his first goal of the season.
Reddot pulled a goal back through Colm Lawlor, but couldn’t stop a rampant Celtic side running out 4-2 winners. The win leaves Holloway three points off the pace with a game in hand.
League leaders Globetown held on to their place at the top of the table with the win of the weekend.
Paul Dunne bagged a brace, while Darren Abbott, Anthony Donovan and John ’boy’ Embery were also all on target to seal an impressive 5-0 win over title rivals Phoenix.
In the second division, league leaders Os Lusos moved five points clear with a 3-1 win over Big Red.
Second place DOM lost ground on their title rivals as they suffered a 6-4 defeat in a 10-goal thriller against Moorehouse.
Elsewhere Neil Webster struck twice as Hornsey sealed a 4-1 victory over CS Maritimo. Paul Harding and Vernon Burnham also found the back of the net as Hornsey picked up only their fourth win of the season.
There were huge celebrations in Division Three as 10-men DL sealed their first win of the season.
Veteran midfielder Dave Barker scored the only goal of the game as DL edged past River Fleet to secure their first victory in nine attempts.
