Fine start to season
MEMBERS from Camden Fencing Club got their season underway in terrific style on Sunday when they turned out for the Bristol Leon Paul Junior Series.
The biggest breakthrough came in the boys’ under-11s category where William Moore defeated teammate Joshua Allen in the final as the club enjoyed a fantastic top-two finish.
Josh Spoor also did well to take sixth place.
In the boys’ under-13s final star swordsman Waldo Ramsay sealed another medal for the club, which is based at Acland Burghley Secondary School in Tufnell Park, when he beat Noah Rogerson 10-5 to take gold.
Fabio Artesi and Jack Horrix finished joint third, while Gianfranco Artesi and Alexis Friday also did well as they finished in eighth and 13th place respectively.
In the boys’ under-15s section, Soji Aiyenuro just missed out on victory in his first outing in the age group when he narrowly lost 15-13 in the final against William Fotherby.
As an extra treat, winners and runners-up not only got shiny new medals to take home with them, but also giant bars of chocolate.
