Rampant Lions vanquish Tigers to lift title
PLAYERS from Lithgow Lions were celebrating on Saturday after being crowned champions in the Regent’s Park League.
The under-15s Lions side roared to victory with a convincing 4-1 win over nearest rivals London Tigers.
Leading scorer Emilio Benavides scored twice, while stand in captain Amini Munye and Samuel Kayila were also on target. The result rounds off a magnificent season for Lithgow, who end their campaign with maximum points with 11 wins out of 11 games, conceding just two goals all season.
Champions Lithgow add their latest title to an already full trophy cabinet, having also won the Unity Cup, the Swiss Cottage League, the African Nations Cup and the Higher Grounds International Cup.
The club will now merge with Hampstead’s under-15s squad before planning an assault on the Harrow Premier League next season.
Scores of youngsters will be back at Regent’s Park on Saturday when the under-15s League Cup takes centre stage.
