Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 February 2007

Youth organisation in peril

• HOW ironic that following the introduction of a book of grievances supporting and highlighting the need for investment in the young, a major youth organisation finds itself in dire peril. An organisation sited on the main artery of life in Camden, the canal.
We in Camden have no forum,no voice of the people and certainly no  independent body of investigation or complaint.
We could, once find an individual who would listen to concerns and mediate, now one only has to say “hang on a minute” and the response is as the Awakening of the Kraken. Wary looks are given, contact is avoided at all costs, and worse the very people one expects to help, view one with no less than fear bordering on terroror worse extreme irritation.
What is needed in Camden, once the creme de la creme borough, is a panel of independent people with the power to investigate injustice, inappropriate behaviour and fraud. The practice of losing files when officers are confronted by unacceptable behaviour might be a beginning.
We have people who are trusted to visit prisoners in their cells why do we not have a panel for injustice and infringement of our everyday human rights.
