Anaconda girls in runaway cup glory
More splash hits by Swim stars
THE Anaconda girls’ team celebrated cup glory on Saturday after swimming to victory in the Tappin Gala, held at Feltham Airparcs Leisure Centre in Hanworth.
There was a string of personal bests and winning times as the gracious girls sealed a runaway win. In the under-11s Sian Perry and Olivia Warwick proved unstoppable in their respective 50m freestyle and breaststroke races, while Jodie Sees won the 50m butterfly in the under 13s division.
Anaconda enjoyed a series of top swims in the under-15s competition with Lorena Mateo winning the 50m breaststroke and Kathleen Bartha hitting home first in the 50m butterfly. Lauren Spiers continued the success in the 50m freestyle, while Julia Taylor completed the winning streak in the open 100m freestyle.
In team events, Taylor, Samara Williams, Hayley Glassford and Mary Anne Reddaway won the 4x25m open medley relay, while Bartha, Spiers, Mateo and Reddaway won the under-15 girls’ 4x25m medley relay.
Despite missing out on the cup, the Anaconda boys’ team enjoyed a tremendous afternoon as they set an incredible 17 new personal bests. The under-13 boys were outstanding, with Andrew Bartha and Ryan Verity winning their respective 50m breaststroke and freestyle events. Ronnie Grubb also picked up a win as he touched home first in the 25m butterfly.
The Open team of Josh Wright, Dominic McLaughlin, Leo Kirby and Hayden Thomas won the boys 4x25m medley relay, while Henry Donaghey, John Rivers and Ryan and James Verity won the under-15 4x25m freestyle relay.
