Armed cops swoop
ARMED police made a dramatic swoop on leafy Primrose Hill
yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, making at least one arrest.
Officers toting machine guns and pistols came with a dog team
and a dozen police vehicles to a block of flats in Regents
Park Road, cuffing a man in a grey tracksuit and taking a middle-aged
woman away in an unmarked police car.
Scotland Yard refused to give any details, with a police spokeswoman
saying only: for strong operational reasons we are not
in a position to discuss this further.
Shocked neighbours said they had no idea why police made the
high-profile raid.
Armed officers are only normally deployed to incidents involving
firearms but no shots were heard and none of the eye-witnesses
who spoke to the New Journal saw any guns apart from the polices.
Neighbour Virginia Edwards, 50, said: I was having my
lunch and I was very surprised to see 10 police in combat gear
and a sniffer police coming down the road.
They were dressed like black stormtroopers and they reminded
me of German soldiers from the war I couldnt tell
whether they were goodies or baddies at first. |
