Figures do not add up
• RESIDENTS of Leighton Road and other streets, included in Transport for London’s proposed extension to the 393 bus route, may be interested in the business plan which has been produced by TfL to make out a case for the new route.
Transport for London expects the route extension to lose £430,000 a year, which will presumably be met by taxpayers. They say, however, that the ‘social benefit’ will amount to about £1 million a year, but no specific explanation is given as to how this figure is arrived at.
Residents faced with a blight on their residential environment from around 170 bus trips a day past their homes, finishing after midnight, may wonder what amount has been included as a ‘social disbenefit’ in TfL’s assessment.
