Horrible to watch dog’s death
•
ON Friday (Feb 9) myself and my daughter Amy were passing Prince of Wales Road when we heard a dog in such pain.
When we looked over, a lady’s dog collapsed in front of her. We rushed to help. The dog at the time seemed to be having a fit but then started bleeding from the mouth.
It was terrible to watch. My daughter then said she could feel an electrical current through her feet and up to her legs. I then bent down and my leg touched a pole which also gave me an electric shock.
We then realised this poor dog was being electrocuted. We managed to pull him away from the pole. By this time the nurse arrived with a carrier. With everyone’s help we carried him to the vets but unfortunately he died.
We will never forget Willow. And my heart goes out to his owner who felt so helpless at the time. It was a terrible way to die, it should ever have happened.
It could have been a child or anyone passing. The road had been dug up, no workmen to be seen.
The company were EDF Energy. I hope they find it in their hearts to compensate this poor lady who lost her dog in such a tragic way. It won’t bring back Willow but it could help towards his burial or whatever she decides to do. We will never forget such a sad day and let’s hope it never happens again.
