The flaw in the system
• IT is outrageous that the Town Hall solicitors have given flawed advice to councillors regarding planning matters (High court to test King’s Cross plan, February 15.)
Are we to understand by such advice that our elected councillors have felt they had no choice, but to give consent to planning or road closures irrespective of merits, not only at King’s Cross, but else where in the borough too?
Our councillors not only have the right to question, study and express their concerns over any planning matter, but indeed they have a duty to do so and vote according to what their conscience and experience dictates.
As for the solicitors in question which we the public pay for, they should, in my view, be reported to the Law Society.
Councillors should be very careful when they come to make a decision about the proposed closure of Dalby Street and the ‘so-called’ improvements at Prince of Wales Road.
Even the average resident around here knows neither can possibly work.
