Heath crime
HAMPSTEAD Heath’s police team dealt with 1,579 incidents in 2006 – working out at nearly five each day.
Offences included breaking bye-laws, such as the Heath regular who received a warning letter after he was caught digging a hole and taking the earth home with him.
The 12 officers, who have a budget of £550,000 took eight people to court for cycling in areas bikes are banned, with costs and fines averaging at around £200
