Double gold for relay stars
RELAY winners Callum McDougall, Felix Samuels, Bogac Ayhan and Harry Needs scooped double gold at the weekend as they led Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club to glory in the Middlesex Age Group Distance Meet in Ealing.
Competing in the boys’ 13-14 age category, the fab-four made waves as they sealed impressive victories in both the medley and freestyle events.
The boys’ success was matched by the men’s 17 and over quartet of Vicking Wong, Matt Chappell, Jack Murphy and Ed Walsh, who also captured gold in both their medley and freestyle events.
The relay success topped a magnificent weekend for Harry Needs, 14, who also won four gold medals in the Middlesex Age Groups in Enfield when he touched home first in the 50m fly, backstroke, breaststroke and the freestyle events.
Club mate Alex Mackay, 15, was also in outstanding form as he achieved a National qualifying time in for 800m freestyle with a split of 9.13.05 on his way out to winning gold in the boys’ 15 years 1500m freestyle.
Edward Graham, 13, also became county age group champion as he recorded a new best time in the 800m freestyle, while Mathilde Milwidsky and Needs won bronze in their respective 800m and 1500m freestyle events. |
