Seven wins out of seven for Wilson
SUPER featherweight Ian Wilson made it seven wins out of seven on Friday when he sensationally stopped British title contender Henry Castle at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham.
Wilson, 25, had been due to face Sheffield’s John Baguley over six, three-minutes rounds. But when Baguley pulled out of the contest, the hard-hitting southpaw was re-matched against Castle.
In what was dubbed the fight of the night, Wilson, who trains at the Times Amateur Boxing Club in Islington, made a slow but steady start as he was out-pointed in the opening two rounds.
But the Holborn fighter burst into life in the fourth as he rocked Castle with a powerful left-hook to the head. Wilson completed the major upset in the fifth round when he stopped Castle in his tracks after dropping him twice in quick succession with two massive left-hooks to the body. |
