Big Match
Special
Our weekly spotlight on one
of the league's big games
Under-14s
RCC 2, Tufnell 1
IT WAS man-of-the-match Dominic Dalgety who inspired RCC to
come back from behind to win a tight contest against Tufnell
at Market Road in the latest of our Big Match Specials.
Tufnell were firing on all cylinders when they came out of the
blocks on Friday night.
And straight from the kick-off, skipper Connor Reidy tested
RCC keeper Ali Kaya twice in the space of a few minutes.
Injury to Tufnells Craig Westley threatened to upset Tufnells
rhythm.
But Westleys replacement Ozan Dilek wasnt fazed
as he proved to have that super-sub touch. Reidy flicked the
ball to Michael Siviglia and substitute Dilek collected the
strikers perfectly weighted pass to blast the ball into
Neil Dennisons net with his very first touch.
RCC were startled into action and Alex Tenola and Dalgety allowed
two good chances to go begging just before the break.
Dalgety was in the thick of things at the restart and soon had
RCC on terms with a cool finish after a great passing move from
Marc James and Tenola.
Tufnell rallied and Siviglia almost broke the bar with a powerful
shot.
But it was RCC who lifted the Big Match Special trophy when
James slotted Nathan Gubbinss long free kick past Dennison
to make it 2-1 in the dying minutes.
Team: Kaya, Gubbins, Alexander, Komara, James, Dalgety, Tenola.
Man of the Match
DOMINIC DALGETY
Dominic raised his game just as RCC looked destined to come
away empty handed, his clever jinks on the wing kept Tufnells
defence on their toes and his superbly taken winner inspired
his team to believe they could win a close-fought tie. |
