Steeles cruise into Cup final
LFA Intermediate Cup
STEELES booked their place in the final of this London-wide
competition on Sunday with a comprehensive 4-0 win over last
season’s finalists Greengate at Hackney Marshes.
The Belsize Park-based side showed little mercy as they demolished
their east London visitors with Eli Nathenson finishing Greengate
off after Sam French, Neil Stewart and Dougie Bruce had put
Steeles into a commanding lead.
Steeles will face Albion Manor from the Hackney and Leyton Sunday
League in the final at Tooting and Mitcham FC on April 9.

Division One
REDDOT A edged it 1-0 over Globetown in a hard fought battle
that keeps the title fight wide open. Stevie Nicolaou’s
goal in the second half settled the tie between table toppers
Globetown and second-placed Reddot, who have three games in
hand.
Division Two
PHOENIX kept up their unbeaten run and title campaign with
a fine 5-1 win over Hornsey.
Matt Breen bagged a hat-trick backed by goals from James Cole
and Jamie Weight. Simon Burnham replied for Hornsey.
Archway Allstars got the better over AFC Brasenose in a six-goal
thriller.
John Springett and Patrick Wrigley pulled Brasenose back to
2-2 but Danny Kwayke’s hat-trick and a Nick Tucker goal
were enough for the Islington side.
Division Three
CARL Heron and Ashley Joseph’s late-late goals for
Broad Lane OT set up an anxious final five minutes for Cobden
Athletic.
Second placed Cobden had cruised into a seemingly unassailable
3-0 lead through Jason Williams (2) and skipper Robert Saint.
League leaders Broad Lane fought back to 3-2 with moments to
go but could not find the killer third.
Deji Davies was top scorer of the day with five goals as DOM
beat Islington’s Deadly Scorpions 7-2. Jim Jack and Mark
Griffith were also on target for DOM with Craig Chambers and
Avar Adays replying for Scorpions.
A last-gasp penalty from Taff Manton saw Surreal Madrid beat
Constitution 3-2. Glen Arthur and Chris Chamberlain were also
on the scoresheet with Billy Evans and Gary Miller scoring for
Constitution.
Pat O’Neill (2), Matt Smith and Heath Smith scored for
FC Bertoli in a 4-2 win over Shooters, whose goals were bagged
by Julian Page and Joe Wihl. |
