The Prices are right for Chapel
THERE were the usual thrills and spills in the Camden and Islington Youth League this week as Market Road was flooded with goals.
In the under-9s ‘A’ league, a single strike from Alfie Costello earned Isledon Wolves a 1-0 victory over Westway.
Westway battled for an equaliser, but Wolves held out for the win thanks to defender Tiago Amaro and goalkeeper Sam Barlow.
In the only other game in the age group, Chapel Boys clinched the points with an impressive win over Islington Admiral Youth.
Perry Price gave Chapel a half time lead when he finished off a good passing move, before Jack Price added a decisive second. Admiral pulled a goal back, but Chapel held out to seal a 2-1 win.
The biggest result in the under-10s league came in the Challenge Cup, where a last gasp winner from Joe Murphy saw FDS book their place in the final four with a 1-0 victory against Westway.
St Pancras produced one of their best performances of the season in the under-11s ‘A’ league to seal a thrilling 3-2 win over EC1 Elite. Defender Dimitri Frankeskides scored his first goal of the season to give the Saints the lead from the penalty spot, but Elite hit back to take a 2-1 advantage.
Jay Oliver levelled just before the break for St Pancras to leave the game hanging in the balance 2-2.
With both teams searching for the winner, Cain McKenzie latched on to a long punt down field by goalkeeper Luke Ward and showed great composure in front of goal to fire the Saints to victory.
In the under-12s ‘A’ league, top two Tufnell and Chapel Boys both sailed to convincing 6-1 victories.
Brian Lyimo scored twice as Tufnell beat FDS. Malik Marland, Kaleb Sofer, Remy Danily and an own goal completed the rout.
Meanwhile for Chapel, leading scorer Omar Rowe took his tally to 22 goals for the season as he scored four against Hampstead. Shaw McKenzie also bagged a brace for Chapel. Ben Rennie scored what proved a consolation for Hampstead. |
