Camden Mayor Jill Fraser reveals the mosaic while local children look on. |
Kids get their teeth into Mosaic
ACCORDING to legend, Kentish Town was home to one of the first false teeth factories in the UK – hence the need for a teeth mosaic.
The commissioned mosaic was unveiled by Camden’s mayor Jill Fraser at the Kentish Town community centre on Saturday.
People also bit their teeth into the range of food on offer at the Busby Place centre as their second spring fayre got underway. The bash raised £300, which will go towards activities.
Other features of the mosaic include a piano – which Kentish Town has a history of making – the old Torriano School and ball room dancers inspired by the late Ruby Clarke, a resident instrumental in the designing of the mosaic, who died last year. “She was a real glamourpuss who won prizes for her dancing in her day,” said centre manager Justina Forristal.
