Five years for knife robber
A PROLIFIC robber who targeted lone women and threatened them at knifepoint was sentenced to five years jail after police found a stash of stolen goods in the basement where he was sleeping rough.
Michael Fitzpatrick, 27, threatened women with a kitchen knife as they walked at night, forcing them to hand over their bags and mobile phones before escaping on his bike.
He was caught for the string of attacks in Bloomsbury and St Pancras last autumn after police traced him to a basement in Flaxman Court, Soho, and found bags that could be linked to the victims of his attacks.
Fitzpatrick (above), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to five of the nine offences of robbery he was charged with between October and November last year, and was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday. |
