‘Not boring!’ MP opens snug
CHILDREN have more space to play hide-and-seek with the welcome addition of a wooden snug to Coram’s Fields.
Holborn and St Pancras MP Frank Dobson returned to the fields, a favourite with his children and five grandchildren, to open the snug.
Mr Dobson, chairman of the fields management committee, who has been involved with Coram’s for more than 40 years, said: “I’m delighted to open the snug, which I think all the adults thought involved a lot of smoke and smells of beer, but it’s not like that, it’s just for children, and they are obviously enjoying it already.
“The worst thing a child can say about anything is it’s boring and the thing we try to do with Coram’s Fields is make sure it’s not boring.”
He said the fields had changed significantly and recalled the football pitch was just gravel when he first visited.
The wooden hut, designed by Jerry Cooper of Theories Landscape, was made possible with a £4,000 donation from businesses in Lambs Conduit Street, Friends of Coram’s Fields and other willing supporters. |
