Glenda joins fight to save museum
FORMER Oscar winning actress and MP for Hampstead and Highgate
Glenda Jackson has joined the fight to save the threatened Theatre
Museum in Covent Garden. She is one of 28 MPs to sign an Early
Day Motion calling for the Museum to be kept open.
Trustees at the Victoria and Albert Museum, who own the Covent
Garden museum, are meeting today (Thursday) and the future of
the museum is believed to be on the agenda.
Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn also signed the motion which
pays tribute to the Theatre Museum, Londons
only gallery devoted to the performing arts and which hosts
one of the best theatre collections in the world.
It calls upon the government to intervene to save this
valuable cultural asset. |
