Big Match Special

Our weekly spotlight on one of the league’s big games

Under-11 B
Finsbury Park 1
Bridge Rovers 1

AN end-to-end battle between these two sides proved a thrilling contest for the latest in our Big Match Specials.
Finsbury Park dominated their last meeting with Rovers earlier in the season. And it was Finsbury who were first to score in the opening minutes.
Klay Brewster blasted home after a fine run and pass from Alex Gonzalez.
Rovers responded but skipper Sonner Ozdemir and keeper Sean Giff stood firm in defence.
Giff saved bravely at the feet of Jachin Archer and Brewster came close to extending the lead moments later after collecting a fine cross from Anthony Ayala. Yet the action quickly returned to the other end as the lively Jahmal Greene was twice denied – by the post and the excellent Giff.
Rovers midfielder Altiman James stepped up his game after the restart and set up Daniel Alarcón Allan to level.
Brewster came close to settling it in the dying minutes but substitute keeper Kevin Torres stood firm in Rovers’ goalmouth to ensure both sides went home with a point and a Big Match Special trophy.

Man of the Match
Sonner Ozdemir

Finsbury Park’s skipper repelled Bridge’s every attack in the opening half and kept a cool head throughout, intelligently spraying passes out of defence to set up attack after attack.
