Dein congratulates ladies on cup final date
ARSENAL vice chairman David Dein was on hand to congratulate
the Gunners Ladies after they secured their place in May’s
Women’s FA Cup final.
Vic Akers’ side will face Leeds in the final after beating
Charlton with a last gasp winner from Jayne Ludlow.
The Wales international headed home in the second minute of
stoppage time in extra time after a thrill-a-minute match at
Bishops Stortford FC on Sunday.
Charlton keeper Pauline Cope denied the Gunners five times in
the opening minutes before Julie Fleeting headed in Lianne Sanderson’s
cross for 1-0.
Eniola Aluko levelled minutes later though and extra time was
needed after Cope maintained her excellent form throughout the
match.
Ludlow said afterwards: “I was dreading penalties so thank
god that ball went into the back of the net.” |
