Free chief says more to be sold
ROYAL Free chief executive Andrew Way has admitted the hospital is looking to sell off more of its estate.
Speaking at a meeting of Camden Primary Care Trust Board last Monday Royal Free chief executive Andrew Way said: “The Royal Free is a single large building which isn’t full. “One of the key strategic issues is how do we fill that space? Some of it will have to be sold off or used for other health care activity that we don’t already do.” Mr Way was giving a presentation on the status of the hospital’s bid for foundation status, which will give the hospital more financial independence, and free it from NHS requirements to balance its books at the end of every financial year.
