Bert Kwok tries the car for size |
Kwok’s car is pink! Pink? Positively pink
A PIECE of TV memorabilia in the form of a big pink motorcar took centre stage on Hampstead Heath last Friday as part of Heath staff’s Comic relief fundraising efforts.
The custom built vehicle starred in the opening credits of the Pink Panther TV show – and actor Bert Kwok, who lives in Belsize Park and starred as Kato the psychotic butler in the Peter Sellers films, turned up to test it out for size.
The car, boasting a seven-litre engine, is currently for sale – marketed by eBay traders FlogIt4U who were looking for £85,000. The auction was due to end last night (Wednesday).
The car was built by Hollywood props specialist Jay Ohberg – the man behind the Batmobile, The A-Team van, the time travelling Delorean of Back To The Future fame and The Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee.
Mr Kwok said he had fond memories of making the films. He said: “It was a seminal time in my life. Working with Peter Sellers was always interesting. He could be a bit weird – but then again, all actors are a bit weird.” |
