High-flyer’s Kenya run

HIGH-flying Harrier Ben Noad clocked up the air miles on Sunday when he travelled to Mombassa in Kenya to take part in the World Cross-Country Championships.
Competing against the most elite cross-country runners in the world, Noad finished in 101st place, crossing the finishing line as the seventh British runner home.
Highgate’s Canadian middle distance runner Glen Saqui continued to have a good season after finishing 20th out of more than 8,000 runners in the Bath half marathon on Sunday.
He finished ahead of several established internationals and club runners to hit a time of one hour, nine minutes and 30 seconds.
Meanwhile in the Reading half marathon Esther Evans was the seventh woman home as she recorded a time of 1:18:50 to take 96th place overall out of a field of more than 9870 finishers.
Club mate Eric Southam came 31st out of a field of 452 runners on Saturday in the British Masters Cross-Country Championships over an undulating Berry Hill course at Mansfield.
n Runners from London Heathside were also out and about during a quiet weekend.
Andy Welshman was among the top performers as he ran well to finish 53rd in the British Veterans Cross-Country Championships.
Elsewhere Julian Ferraro hit a new personal best of 73 minutes, 38 seconds to finish 40th in the Reading half marathon. There were also good runs from Gavin Evans, Angela Howe and Angela Evans.
