Troubling blaze
• THE fire in the sauna in Royal College Street, Camden Town, seems to raise a number of worrying questions above the responsibility (or lack of it) of the relevant authorities.
Sophie Millar stated: “I’m really angry about it. The sauna was unlicensed for two years and was classified as an unsafe building. It’s quite shocking. Obviously if we’d known it was unsafe perhaps we wouldn’t have moved in.” (Blaze leap student: ‘I thought I would die’, March 29)
Do the police, landlord and Town Hall imagine that their social responsibility ended as soon as the business’s licence was cancelled? If so, then that is a rather sad reflection on the state of Camden borough.
