Calls for action after collisions at danger junction

NEIGHBOURS living near a busy Camden junction are calling for restrictions on the roads following a series of collisions close to their front doors.
Camden Town was brought to a halt twice in the space of five days following car accidents at the junction of Camden Road and Camden Street.
A man had to be cut out of his car when two cars collided, while a police car span out of control and on to the pavement outside the British Transport Police headquarters following a rush-hour crash five days later.
Resident Jackie Lyon said: “I heard the bang, jumped up, and the car had obviously lost control. I’m amazed it hasn’t killed somebody. So many people stand on the corner there. This happens often. This is not going to go on for much longer without somebody being killed.”
She added: “I think it’s because of the yellow box on the junction, people rush to get across so they don’t get landed with a £100 fine.”
Carl Dahl, an architect who lives on Camden Road, said: “It’s scary. Now, when I cross the road I always stand on the far side of the lamppost so I don’t get hit. I’m not a town planner but there are things that can be done to slow people down.”
