Gunners deserved win at Fulham
reserve league south
Fulham 0, Arsenal 1
RESERVE team manager Neil Banfield feels his young Arsenal charges finally got what they deserved on Tuesday when they beat Fulham at Motspur Park.
Swiss defender Johan Djourou scored the only goal of the game as the Gunners bounced back from their 4-3 aggregate defeat against rivals Manchester United in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup. “In the second half we came out and played as we have in the last three or four games. It’s didn’t get us the results we deserved in recent weeks but against Fulham we’ve come away and got a good win,”,Banfield said after the game
Arsenal peppered Fulham’s goal throughout with Kieran Gibbs, Fran Merida and Nacer Barazite all missing good chances before Djourou headed home the winner.
In the end, the talented young guns had Estonian goalkeeper Mart Poom to thank for the win after he pulled off a string of magnificent saves. |
