Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 19 April 2007
Driven up the wall
• I live on an estate where footballs constantly go crash-bash-smash against walls (Play ball, and give the kids a break, April 12). As someone who is not so young any more, I consider it a serious interference in my life.
I say good for Camden Council for taking into account complaints by residents disturbed by the noise. Sean Thompson assumes only small boys kick footballs around. Does he not know that big boys do it too? And they can kick further and more noisily too.
Tall or small, another part of the job description of a child is to learn we must all give consideration to other people. Is he sure the kick-around is strictly confined to the outside of the children’s homes?
My suggestion to Mr Thompson is that he should open wide all the windows of his home, then invite every boy in the neighbourhood over for a kick-around, not just for a short while but for hours on end, every day, until the end of the school holidays, in the predicted hot weather.
