Jol urges on Spurs for derby
MARTIN Jol has promised supporters his team are psyched up for the big north London derby on Saturday as Spurs look to exact revenge after losing to Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.
The Tottenham manager revealed: “We want to do well in that one – we feel we owe that much to the supporters. “I think back to the last game against Arsenal here in the Carling Cup when we led 2-0, and it still really hurts.”
Meanwhile Gunners’ stand-in captain Gilberto Silva has urged his Arsenal teammates to remain focused on the job at hand and move a step closer to a top-four finish by beating Spurs. “I played there when we won the League in 2004,” he said. “Although many of the players have now left, the traditions of the match are still the same. “We will need to keep our minds strong because this is the kind of game where you do not have time to relax for one minute. We know that in the matches against Tottenham, if we do not play at 100 per cent then it will be difficult.”
