LEAGUE debutants Crown and Manor sealed their third win of the season on Monday with a hard-fought victory against Park View Rangers at Market Road.
Rangers got off to a bright start, but Crown and Manor edged in front against the run of play when hot shot Jay Fenton added the finishing touches to an impressive passing move to fire his team ahead.
Park View hit back early in the second half to level the scores, but Fenton sealed a 2-1 victory when he scored his second of the game from the penalty spot.
Elsewhere Peel are just one win away from being crowned champions in the Under-11s ‘A’ League after goals from Tevin Alebiosu and Sheldon Wilson earned them a 2-0 win over Somers Town.
Although rivals Hampstead Hawks look to now be out of the title race, they warmed up for their cup semi-final on Friday with a convincing win over EC1Elite. Goals from Connor Sullivan, Conor Jones, George Brennan and Luke Rushe saw Hampstead seal a 4-1 win.
In the Under-12s ‘A’ League, substitute Connor Moss scored in the final minutes of the match to earn Peel a 1-0 win against FDS.
Meanwhile cup fever also hit Market Road this week. Isledon Wolves roared into the final of the Under-9s Alan Michael Browne Challenge Cup on Friday with a convincing win against Westway. A timely treble from hat-trick hero Liam Bristow and a strike from Alfie Costello saw Wolves seal a 4-1 victory.
In the under-10s competition, goals from Shane Cojocarel and Charles Prince saw league champions Hampstead march into the cup final with a 2-1 victory over FDS.
Two goals from Bradley Martin weren’t enough to earn Hampstead a place in the under-12s cup final as they narrowly lost out 3-2 in their semi-final showdown against Bridge Rovers.
In the under-14s tourney, two goals from Lewis Yeboah helped Park View Rangers book their place in the final. Adam Rowe, Kyrai Georgiou, Akeem Campbell and Fabian Solomon were also all on target as Rangers ran out 6-1 winners over Regent’s Park. Rangers will take on Finsbury Park in the final after they beat Brunswick 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.
