Stab bail bid fails
A BAIL bid by a man accused of a knife attack on a shopper in Queen’s Crescent market, in Gospel Oak, was rejected at the Old Bailey.
The victim, Kevin Williams, 28, suffered near fatal injuries when he was set on by two assailants on a Sunday afternoon.
Mr Williams, well-known locally, was in Bill’s newsagents where he was targeted, trapped and repeatedly stabbed.
He was taken to the Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead, with knife wounds to his body, limbs and head.
Following emergency surgery he was detained for seven weeks.
Detectives studied CCTV footage before arresting 28-year-old Aaron Archer Williams, who was charged with attempted murder last month.
Williams, from Somers Town, is due to face a jury trial later this year and remains in custody on remand.
He was represented by leading criminal counsel Sam Stein, QC, who declined to grant Williams his freedom pending trial.
