Samara a mini marvel!
STAR athlete Samara Williams led the Camden contingent home on Sunday as she put in an outstanding performance at the long-awaited London Mini Marathon.
The talented 12-year-old, who goes to Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park, hit home in a time of 16.22 to finish third in the girls’ 11 to 12-year-olds category.
Budding runners aged between 11 to 17 from all 33 London boroughs tackled the testing course, which is run over the last 2.65 miles of the main marathon from the junction of Southwark Bridge and Upper Thames Street to The Mall.
Among the other top performers for Camden were magnificent seven Isabel Barnes, Georgia Neville, Eucalypta Bradley, Kathleen Jopling McGrath, Nina Parker, Grace Campbell and Cleo Chevalier from Parliament Hill School in Highgate.
Meanwhile in the boys’ competition, Raymond Vangiladio put in a dazzling display to finish sixth in his age category. * See next week’s sport for more on our young track stars
