Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 3 May 2007
Battle of the Almos
• AFTER the Almo fiasco it’s hard to believe that the duly elected members of our council refuse to learn their lesson – do they think 77 per cent of the electorate are wrong? John Prescott, the deputy prime minister, accepted in principle the argument that ‘good’ performing councils should be able to access the extra money available to Almos without setting up a private company.
Has this new administration got no courage to stand-up to central government’s bullying tactics? It seems not. Have they forgotten the ballot box on May 3? What is wrong with the fourth option? Or are the electorate going to force the issue on the May 3 instead? NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
