Alex’s gold earns a UK rating

SPEEDY swimmer Alex Mackay achieved his second National Qualifying time at the weekend when he won the 1500m-freestyle in his latest outing for Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club in Aldershot.
Mackay, 15, touched home in 17.09.44 to win gold, before going on to clinch a deserved silver medal in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4.29.05.
Meanwhile club mate Devon Robins, 13, was in four-midable form as she won gold in the 200m and 400m individual medley and the 100m and 200m breaststroke. Robins also finished second in the 100m fly.
Star swimmer Harry Needs, 15, continued his unstoppable winning streak as he finished first in the 100m and 200m backstroke, while teammate Katie Hogben, 17, won the 100m breaststroke and the 100m fly.
Callum McDougall also won double gold as he finished fastest in the 200m individual medley and the 200m backstroke, as well as taking bronze in the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. Two young swimmers who really shone for Camden Swiss Cottage were Reut Benaim and Sarah Taylor Reid. Reut, 12, stormed to victory in the girls’ 100m and 200m fly and took second place in the 200m Individual medley. Star Sarah, 11, continued the medal haul as she won the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
Felix Samuels, Kelly Hookway, Alex Peake, Sarraounia Samuels, Emily Drew, Billy Bradley, Clara Ahmed, Eugene Potter, Aaron Barta, Shana Gallagher, Alice Hodder, Bogac Ayhan, Joel Sands, Lucas Perry-Hill, Samir Ahmed, Josh Tomas-Merrills and Jessica Hobbs were also all in outstanding form for the club.
