Left in the dark over demise of lampposts
• I HAVE noticed something very strange in the London borough of Camden – the lampposts must have a disease akin to Dutch Elm and we haven’t been told.
Is this disease worse than Avian flu in its infectiousness?
Or is it a sneaky way of getting rid of dogs who get electrocuted when they ‘raise their rear leg’ thus reducing the call for the diminishing species of dog spies?
There are an inordinate number of these poor sickly lampposts brutally amputated at less than two metres with yellow plastic bandages put round them.
I used the word “inordinate” and I really mean it. There must be dozens.
Some, indeed, are removed overnight.
May I draw your attention to the fact that the Camden’s Streetlighting manual is being prepared by the Engineering Service.
Perhaps the lampposts’ untimely demise has something to do with alleged unnecessary replacements, newer models, alleged misappropriation of public funds, alleged kickbacks etc.
Perhaps the National Audit Office should investigate as to why most of the lampposts in Camden have suddenly become defective? NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
