Loyal servant missed
• I WAS shocked and saddened to hear of Jim Turner’s sudden death (Ex-mayor who led fight to save old people’s home, May 3).
I served for eight years as one of Jim’s fellow Labour councillors.
He helped to show me the ropes and would give me advice whenever I needed it.
He was tremendously hard working in representing his constituents.
Unlike some habitual ‘rebels’, Jim was a loyalist and, when he did go against his party, he believed he was acting in the best interests of his constituents.
Jim was truly rooted in the community. He will be missed. RICHARD OLSZEWSKI
(Labour councillor, Regent’s Park ward 1994-2002)
