Fencers’ finesse
MEMBERS from Camden Fencing Club represented Great Britain at the weekend in the annual International Berthelin Challenge in France.
The team of 12 fencers showed off their skills as they battled for top honours in the prestigious under-14s competition.
Among the stars was Waldo Ramsay, who clinched a deserved gold in his respective boys’ event. Club mates Jack Horrix and Fabio Artesi also secured top ten finishes.
There were also strong performances from Nicolas Sabharwal, Gianfranco Artesi, Alexis Friday, William Moore, Josh Spoor, Edward Horrix and Josh Allen, helping the Camden side clinch first place in the team awards.
In the girls’ section, Emma Horrix was in scintillating form as she captured bronze. Teammate Rachel Friday, who only started fencing four months ago, also showed impressive form as she finished seventh.
As a final bonus, the Camden and Islington club, which is based at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park, were presented with the Fair Play Award.
