Anaconda’s big splash in Junior Speedo League
RECORD breakers from Anaconda Swimming Club continued their impressive medal haul at the weekend when they turned out for the second round of the Junior Speedo League at Waltham Forest.
The top team of nine to 12-year-olds from the club, based at the Cally Pool in Caledonian Road, put on a series of scintillating swims as they broke three club records and set an incredible 26 new personal bests.
Star swimmer Morgan Mockler, 10, set a tremendous new club record when she won the 50m butterfly in 39.39 seconds, before going on to capture another gold in the 50m backstroke.
Teammate Frederick Cornwell broke another club record with a superb swim to win the 25m butterfly in 18.95secs. The talented nine-year-old also took silver in the 25m breaststroke. Fred Celul became the third swimmer to hit a record-breaking time when he won the 25m backstroke in 20.98secs.
Elsewhere Dominic McLoughlin continued the gold rush when he won his 50m backstroke event, before taking silver in the freestyle.
Maisie Parker and Joe Grubb also touched home first as they captured gold in their respective 25m and 50m backstroke events.
The under-12s boys’ squad of McLoughlin, Grubb, Tomas Sitek and Padriag Lynch put in a strong swim to finish first in their 4x25m medley relay. Lynch and Joseph Edwards went on to take silver medals in their respective 50m freestyle and breaststroke races.
Meanwhile the nine-year-old girls’ squad had an exceptionally successful evening, with Aimee-Rose Nahal, Olivia Warwick, Maisie Parker and Verity Hayes finishing second in their 4x25m medley and freestyle relays. Olivia Warwick also came second in the 25m breaststroke. |
