1,500 reveal vision of the Heath 10 years on
MORE than 1,500 people have submitted ideas for the future of Hampstead Heath.
Heath managers the City of London asked users for views on the Heath management plan, a weighty document outlining how the area is to be run and managed over the next 10 years.
The consultation period ended on Monday. Responses are now being analysed by the City’s environment council. The management plan was written with the help of the Heath and Hampstead Society, swimmers, walkers, sports clubs, conservation groups and cyclists.
Volunteers helped distribute 10,000 postcards, more than 800 of which were returned. Heath users have said they would like to see a ban on all petrol vehicles, tractors replaced with shire horses and garages at the Parliament Hill staff yard turned into stables.
The ideas will be taken into account when the final management plan is drafted.
