Stop the excuses
• RE your article, Murder haunts community (May 24), Mr Farah of the Somali Community Association says: “The parents of these men do not believe their sons have committed any crimes.”
The last tragic moments of Mahir Osman’s life were captured on CCTV. The men who took his life have had the unswerving loyalty and support of their parents, family and community before and after they committed their heinous crime. Many caring, law-abiding young citizens have one parent, no other family support or community support.
Please stop blaming local authorities or the state, who have spent thousands of pounds meeting the needs of the Somali community, providing top defence lawyers and translators for this trial. Stop the excuses and take responsibility for the sake of your children. C KHAN
