Deserved honour
• IT is entirely fitting that Roy Shaw should be made Camden’s first honorary alderman. He is the embodiment of the ethos of public service.
Roy has been serving people in the borough since he was first elected in 1956, and before that served his country bravely in the Army.
He has strong Labour values but, most of all, he cared passionately about people in Camden, particularly those in his ward. I found out first-hand, from fighting the last local elections alongside him, that Roy is held in the highest esteem. He will be missed as someone who put so much time, care and energy into serving the community
Roy thoroughly deserves his honour. I’m sure everyone wishes him well in his retirement. MIKE KATZ
Prospective Labour candidate, Haverstock ward
