Athletes’ bid to win sport camp places
TOP athletes from across the borough will be keeping their fingers crossed this weekend as they wait to find out if they have won a place at a special summer sports scheme.
More than 40 youngsters aged between 10 and 11 years old were invited to William Ellis Secondary School in Highgate Road to take part in a series of trials to win a place in the London Gifted and Talented Excellence in Sport Camp.
After a testing afternoon, 16 youngsters from Camden schools were invited to the Willesden Sports Centre where they competed for one of the nine places available.
The winners will find out next week if they have been selected for the four-day course at Capital City Academy in Brent, which will take place in the summer.
