Keep school permits
• I SEE that Camden Council has published the results of the school-run consultation. Maybe now the council will realise that residents’ associations do not represent all residents on this issue. As the consultation shows, many of us who live in Hampstead near the schools and suffer school-run congestion want to see safe solutions that will reduce congestion, not a removal of school parking permits.
Most residents do not think traffic has been reduced since permits were significantly reduced. Taking away school parking permits doesn’t work and will lead to uncontrolled parking.
The only solution is for the council to find a way to improve alternatives available to parents so they can avoid driving.
I hope now Camden Council will realise it needs to listen to the wider community, not just a few associations who do not seem to understand the complex issues involved or how to solve the problems. TREA HOVING
