Olympic fund blues
•I FEAR that there are further lean times ahead for the voluntary sector in Camden. Last financial year there was a £100m available from the Big Lottery Fund in grants. This was over-subscribed by a factor of five. This year, because of the need to fund the Olympics, the sum available is some £8 million, which is oversubscribed by a factor of ten.
Only one of the seven applications for this funding in Camden was successful. When you add this to the cuts to parts of the voluntary sector imposed by the new political regime in Camden this does not bode well for the future of our voluntary sector. M R FARRANT
