Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published:21 June 2007
Crash only a matter of time
•
I WOULD like to congratulate Beverley Hall, head of surface transport at Transport for London (TfL), on one thing regarding her decision to run the 393 bus along Leighton Road and that is her ability to unite even more strongly all the residents who campaigned so eloquently against this ridiculous idea. I would like her to be aware of people power, which should never be underestimated.
People are far from happy about many things, especially the connivance of TfL to get what it wants by completely disregarding valid contributions from residents putting forward extremely sensible and sound objections.
The so-called consultation was a complete farce on a hit-and-miss scale. Some people were given leaflets with questions, others knew nothing about them. How can this be a consultation?
I hope Ms Hall seriously considers this point. When the three emergency services are flying along Leighton Road answering a call, they travel at great speed on the wrong side of the road approaching Torriano Avenue.
The 393 bus will be turning into Leighton Road from Torriano Avenue and it will only be a matter of time before there is an almighty accident.
How would Ms Hall like that on her conscience, all because of pride and ignorance? BRENDA HUMPHREYS
