MIDDLESEX CCC
MIDDLESEX’S Jamie Dalrymple was perhaps the one bright spark in the gloom of England’s opening one-day defeats by Sri Lanka, writes Paul Cowling.
Following on from a near match-winning 67 at Lord’s at the weekend, the spinner rattled up 37 at the Oval on Tuesday.
County colleague Ed Joyce is still sidelined with the ankle injury picked up in the Twenty20 match with Sri Lanka last week.
There was further bad news for Middlesex, as they were skittled out for just 49 in the Liverpool Victoria County Championship defeat by Notts at Trent Bridge.
Only Nick Compton (11) reached double figures, following on from his first innings total of 69. Middlesex bounced back on Sunday to record another Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy 50-over win, this time away to Somerset to move to second in the South Conference table.
