Tow-away threat lifted
TOWING away parking offenders’ cars has been virtually scrapped by the Town Hall.
The Liberal Democrat-Tory coalition has followed up its axing of clamping by reserving towing away for the worst parking culprits. Cars parked illegally in residents’ bays will normally only receive tickets.
Drivers whose money has run out in pay-and-display meters will have 24 hours to retrieve vehicles before they are taken to the pound.
More than 15,000 cars have been towed away since 2005.
