Triumphant youngsters net glory in rounders championships
YOUNGSTERS from across Camden and Islington were celebrating this week after netting glory in the Rounders Championships.
Camden School for Girls were the big winners on Monday when they beat teams from Hampstead, Maria Fidelis, Parliament Hill and South Camden Community School to clinch the Federation Year 7 Rounders Trophy.
The triumphant Camden School for Girls side join Parliament Hill School on the winners’ podium, after they were crowned Year 10 and 11 champions. The Highgate-based school will now represent Camden in the National Finals, which will be held in Northamptonshire on Saturday.
Meanwhile there was double delight for Islington’s St Mary Magdalene’s Primary School when they won both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ team trophies in the Camden Schools Sports Association Rounders Championships.
Held at Regent’s Park, the tournament proved a huge success as 21 teams from 11 primary schools battled it out for top honours, with St Mary Magdalene beating Hampstead based school New End in the ‘A’ final and Gospel Oak in the ‘B’ final.
Double champions St Mary Magdalene and runners-up New End will also now represent their borough in their National Finals in Birmingham. |
